You can buy a wax balm at most hair salons that will help you with spiking your hair. You can also use a curling iron. When you curl your hair instead of curling under like you were always taught, curl it outward. This will give it a flipped out look! Good luck!

I used egg whites back in the day. They harden and work really well with out smelling. I know people that use regular Elmer's Glue, but there is also "hair glue."

You definitely need gel, and hairspray. Biosilk Finishing Spray (Silver Can) is a really good firm spray. You might need some hair wax too, although don't use too much, it will make it look greasy.

Oh, I have the answer for you. I went to high school in the 80's, and we are famous for the stiff, teased out hair. I still use these methods today. ( although I do not tease, I still like some volume and heighth in my hair ). First, you need to apply a product before you blow dry, such as Loreal Grab. this will allow movement with a brush, and not be too stiff. Stay away from spiking gels, and creams, your hair will harden quick and you will not be able to style it. Use a round brush while blowdrying, and do as much as you can upside down. This is important because you have length on your hair. You will need to use a cheap hairspray, such as white rain extra hold, or rave mega hold. As you are styling you want to spray and blowdry. The blowdryer will harden the hairspray quicker. If you want more heighth spray upside down, blowdry, flip up, then start combing into place, spray again, blowdry. When you have it where you want give it a final spray. Good luck!
